Should the Supreme Court strike down affirmative action laws
policies by our Supreme Court which has a decided conservative majority. What
do you think about the possibility of striking down any affirmative action
policies in hiring or entrance policies into professional schools like Medical
Schools and Law Schools?
Discuss the rationale for and against Affirmative Action.
For example the fact that there were ladder jobs available for white ethnics in
the 10’s, 20’s and 30’s but those type of working class jobs began to die in
the 50’s when most blacks begin to migrate to northern cities in search of
these jobs. So white ethnics were able to work themselves into better incomes
and help their kids while blacks who migrated – moved to areas where jobs were
disappearing and they could not move up the ladder as other groups did before them.
Blacks who moved north prior to the 1940’s also experienced upward mobility.
