How important are the use of ethnic and racial categories in the US? Are they necessary in order to identify differences in the experienes of categories of people (e.g. African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Irish Americans, Italian Americans, Asian Americans, etc.). Also, do they help promote diversity, or, do they divide people along race and ethnicity lines? Discuss and evaluate
