Report

Write a report
defining self-managed learning, evaluating the current resources
and approaches available to achieving success in personal and professional development.

Your report should include your own proposals as to how you believe the government, employers
and individuals could encourage the development
of lifelong learning both in your own work-place and in your personal
development.

You should also include your reflections on
the expected return on investment from self-managed learning for both yourself and your employer.

Your report should be filed in your
portfolio.

Task 2 A
Personal Development Plan

Design a
comprehensive PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN(PDP) identifying personal and
professional goals and setting out the time-bound activities required to fill
any gaps (meet any needs) in the skills, competencies and resources currently
available to you.

Possible
evidence that you may use in your PDP is suggested on pages 6-8 of this
document.

Up-date your PDP based on feedback from
tutors, employers and other connected parties together with your own reflective
evaluations logged in your Personal
Development Journal
. (See alsoTask 3, below).

Your Personal Development Plan (PDP) should be filed in your portfolio.

Task 3 A
Personal Development Journal

Complete
a Personal Development Journal (PDJ) which includes critical reflections on the
progress that you have made against the targets that you set yourself on your Personal Development Plan.

Over-all,
your plan will include evidence of how you propose to achieve the learning
outcomes set out in P 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.4, 4.1 and 4.3.

In particular, you should organise andevaluate your own current
skills and competenciesusing the format of a comprehensive SWOT analysis (P2.1).

To help assess your current skills and
competencies against the skills identified in your current job specification
and organisational objectives, include within the ‘strengths’ and ‘weakness’
elements of the SWOT analysis the results of a series of
questionnaires/objective self-analysis (at least 3). Your goal is to make
your self-evaluation as objective, searching and comprehensive as possible.

Using
your completed SWOT analysis, diagnose and define personal learning and
development needs (P2.2).

Complete
the ‘opportunities’ element of a SWOT
analysis and review the activities, personnel, methods and resources
available to you to meet the personal and professional needs that you have
identified (P2.3).
