Module 6 Homework Assignment
Directions: For this assignment, you will compare and contrast the pragmatic theory of truth and
the correspondence theory of truth. How are these two theories similar, how are they different,
and which do you find more compelling and why?
Structure: You will begin your assignment with an introduction paragraph. This should include
a description of what you plan to discuss and what argument you plan to make in regards to these
two theories. This should be at least 100 words in length.
Next, you will explain each of these theories, including their main thesis and how they defend
that thesis. Each of these theories should be discussed in a paragraph of their own, and each of
these paragraphs should be at least 100 words in length.
After you have explained these theories, you need to explain how they are similar, and how they
differ. This section should be at least 200 words in length.
Finally, you will explain which of these two theories of truth you find to be most compelling and
why. This section should be at least 100 words in length.
Tips: The following are important things to keep in mind while completing this assignment. Do not discuss religion. In an argumentative essay of this nature, your goal is to
convince your reader to adopt a certain view point. When you discuss religion, you
automatically exclude those readers who are either not religious or do not share your
particular religious views, leaving you convincing only those readers who already agree
with you. Instead, you need to use logical analysis and factual data to support your
points.
Start early and revise often. Even just one proofread can catch many unwanted errors in
your final draft which could make you lose points.
Use all resources available to you. The LIRN Library and Academic Resource Center are
two great places to start your research and to get help/feedback on your essay. Minimum Requirements: Your assignment must: Be in APA format with a proper and complete title page
Have at least 550 words following the format given above
Be free of grammar, typo, and spelling errors
List all secondary sources in a reference page using APA format
