The Russo-Japanese War 1904-05
The Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905 was not a sudden event.
The war was the result of the bitter rivalry and competition between two powers
in Far East. The surprising factor in the whole event was that a tiny Asian
power was able to defeat a mighty western power who had been basking in its
past glory. It marked the rise of Japan over the horizon as a world power. The
war showed the incompetence of Tsar Nicholas II and paved the ground for the
future revolution in Russia,
The Russo-Japanese war can be divided into following parts:
1. Road to war: There was stiff competition between Russia
and Japan over the territories of Manchuria in China and Korea. These clash of
interests resulted in the conflict in 1905
2. The course of the War: The conditions of the war were
favorable for Japanese. Vice Admiral Togo won great victories at sea
3. Results of the War
