Disease Surveillance
Right now health departments are getting anonymous emergency
room data for the chief complaint. What will happen when all hospitals have
electronic medical records? Could these be used for disease surveillance if the
identity of the individual was protected, or would law enforcement and courts
eventually break down this barrier and get access?
Please provide some insight.
