The Resilient Family: Family Tasks
and Characteristics
Harway and Wexler (1996) proposed
four typical family tasks carried out by most families regardless of lifestyle
(single-parent led family, co-habilitating heterosexual adults, gay males and
lesbian couples, dual-career family, remarried family, and the like). How do
these tasks fit with the Walsh’s (1996) “challenge” model of family
resilience? Or do they? Explain.
