- Which three subfields in psychology that most interest you?
The three subfields in psychology that interest me are cognitive, counseling and community. I chose these three subfields because I can relate and have knowledge of the three subfields. I am a mental health and give support for clients on a daily basis using these three subfields. The basic notion of this theory is that people are happier and more successful life in a job that matches their interests, values, and skills Landrum, R. E. (2012).
- What personal characteristics (knowledge, skills, abilities) do you possess that might make these areas a good fit for you?
I have characteristics of cognitive, counseling and community are areas for a good fit me for me. I have skills relating to mental health relating to these three subfields. I have some knowledge of these three subfields and I am eager to learn more about serving people needs for cognitive, counseling and community to help support the mental health population.
- Which three subfields interest you the least?
The three subfields that interest me the least is neuroscience, quantitative and experimental. In school I was always good in science when I studied. In scientific studies one must do research which is difficult to process at times. In quantitative approach one must be able to analyze and I’m not good in math. Therefore, this approach will make it difficult for me to analyze. Also with experimental it will take time for me to understand ideas relating to scientific experiments.
- If you were challenged with creating a new subfield, what would be the name of your subfield and what would it consist of?
I would create a subfield that relates to mental health. This subfield must improve the lives of the mental health population. Comparative psychology will benefit the mental processes and behavior.

Most Favorable
My three most favorite subfield of Psychology would be Educational, Counseling and Industrial Psychology. I believe I would enjoy Educational Psychology because I have a passion for teaching. I think this would be a great path if you wish to learn both cognitive and behavioral perspectives to enhance your ability to understand how people operate in different levels of intelligence, development, motivation and there general role of learning. The second subfield I believe I would enjoy doing is Counseling Psychology. Counseling Psychology is a great way to help individuals find their strengths and weakness about themselves. In addition, Counselors can assist with career development and general mental health counseling. My third favorite would be Industrial Psychology. This is the newest subfield in Psychology and one of the highest paid departments in Psychology. In Industrial Psychology, I would have the opportunity to study human behavior, and apply psychological theories to help a company/organization produce better employees.
Least favorable
My first least favorite subfield in psychology would have to be Clinical. I admire Clinical Psychologist for what they do to help with certain mental illnesses and the promotion of subjective well-being. However, I always found Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry a little Dark for me. My second least favorite would have to be Neuroscience. I always thought Neuroscience was more on the medicine/science track. However, the science field was never my strong point. The last unfavorable subfield of psychology would have to be personality psychology. I am not sure if I would enjoy being involved in the study of learning other people’s personalities.
Possible subfield
A Subfield I noticed that was not on the list was Sports Psychology. Sport Psychology would definitely be a possible subfield. As a former athlete, I believe Sports Psychology would be an enjoyable occupation. Training athletes to be mentally prepared for a sporting event would be and exiting career opportunity.
