Fallacy News
The purpose of this task is to deconstruct and analyze a fallacy argument found in a news article. For this assignment you are asked to find one news article (from either a newspaper, magazine or online source) that contains one of the five fallacies(Slippery slope, Is/Ought, Appeal to Authority, Straw Man, Ad Hominen).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The article that you choose to analyze must be a news article and not an opinion piece or an editorial.
In this assignment, you must complete the following steps:
- summarize the article in your own words,
- identify the fallacy and
- provide an explanation of why you think the argument(s) within the article is committing that particular fallacy.
You should show your ability to summarize the article clearly and succinctly and successfully explain why the argument(s) of the article commits the particular fallacy.
