Hello expert based on the assignment that you
did for me on order id #TTs300515_295234_15, now I want you to please
make some comments in my peer.
Besides posting
your original reading responses, you are required to write at least one well thought out comment to your classmates’
responses. Participation response should be at least 5 sentences long. You
should clearly argue why exactly you agree or disagree with another student,
what is your point, and how can you support your argument.
I want Half Page about
what they wrote, well thought out comment (participation response), saying if
you agree or not and why? Try to write a concise and meaningful response of
about this size. The substantial amount of text, that I request, should be
dense and thorough. When you are going to write a comment to someone’s
response, explain why you agree or disagree and how you came to those
conclusions.

Response to Denise Brenna, Men’s pleasure, Women’s labor:
Tourism for Sex
In the research that Denise Brenna conducted “Men’s pleasure, Women’s
labor: Tourism for Sex,” she examines the causes of why Sosúa (in the Dominican
Republic) is a zone for so much sex tourism, the reasons why tourists target it
and why so many women get in to the field work. She states that the reason the
Dominican women migrate to Sosúa isn’t just because of survival, but
advancement purposes, they get about 500 pesos (US $ 11.00) per client, more
than they can get biweekly working in a salon or restaurant. Foreigners choose
Sosúa because of the cheap sex. She also points out that sex workers dream of
traveling outside, and that they realized that transnational relationships are
the way to go. However, it seems that is hard to make that dream come true and
all that success if it is reached does not lasts much. In order to
succeed there should be a plan and also they shouldn’t rely on foreigners only,
Dominican clientele works for a more secure income.
It’s kind of hilarious, I’m Dominican, and all that Brennan states in
her research is real, Puerto Plata is categorized as a very touristic zone in
the Dominican Republic, and one of the places where prostitution is more
practiced. It’s all because of the money; Dominican women see an opportunity to
meet the “Rich” or “blue prince” who will marry them and take them out of the
country or to earn a big amount of money. Sosúa is a small town in Puerto
Plata, however women sex workers is not the only thing we can find in the
beaches, we can also find male sex workers, “Sanky-pankies” or just sanky (The
Gazette), they serve to either sex, male or female soliciting company, and that
reminds me of movie of Deuce Bigalow – Male Gigolo Movie. Coming back to the
women in the field work, also top models well educated women get “green old
men” from other countries to sponsor them, and to get positions, apartments,
yachts, visas, and so on. They are categorized as “chapiadoras” or gold
diggers. Nevertheless, the lower class women, the poor who sometimes drop
school because another teen lover who will leave her pregnant and without
enough support, seem to see Sosúa like not the only way out, but the best
way out, to make money quickly, and so they can support their family or, build
their house, and other things. My classmate of ten grade in high school,
Elaine, she ran away from her house with her Dominican lover to the capital,
after three years, I see her with big breast, bigger than I could have imagined
and marrying a Canadian man of 50 years old, it seemed in the picture of her
face that she had nauseas of being with that man, 2 months later she divorced,
she said he was very “controlling,” the man married another girl similar to
her, and same age. I don’t know what she was doing in the capital, and how her
breast that was smaller than mine got so big, but something I know, that the
majority of the males from other countries stereotype Dominican women as gold
digger, cheaters, prostitutes, extremely sexy, and easy, those foreigners have
no trust in us(women) and they are very possessive.
I consider myself as pure lady, who wouldn’t be a sex worker, but I’m
still target of being stereotyped when I let an European/gringo guy know my
nationality. One day after I rejected a guy from London, he called me
“unfaithful liar” and “chapiadora.” In another occasion when I was in a group
activity playing video games, after I told the group I was from the Dominican
Republic, one guy from German made a joke, “oh nice, when can we date.” So even
though I’m not against the sex work in the Dominican Republic, I think that all
that fame has built up a bad reputation on the Dominican women.
