Epistemology, Metaphysics & Ontology
This week’s assignment is designed to help you become familiar with three critical terms for understanding the person from a Christian perspective, epistemology, metaphysics, and ontology.
1. You will be responsible for finding and describing at least two definitions and examples of each of the three terms in books, articles or web searches.
2. You will also report four instances of epistemology discussions, four instances of ontology discussions and two instances of metaphysics discussions from your Week 1 readings – chapter 1 of Five Views, the journal article Essential Biblical Assumptions of Human Nature, and the journal article Worldview Communities and the Science of Psychology. These will not necessarily be uses of the terms themselves (epistemology, metaphysics, ontology), but examples of ideas related to each term. For example, you might report when a type of knowledge or way of knowing such as reason is mentioned or discussed as one of your epistemology examples.
