Why do you think some scholars find Cold War terminology (“first world” etc.) objectionable? Do you agree?
Consider the concept of subjective poverty. Have you ever felt subjective poverty? Does it make sense that poverty is in the eye of the beholder? How does this compare to absolute poverty? Does the very concept of subjective poverty subtract from the attention given to those in absolute poverty? Or are all types equally important?
