The United States has
been in the role of the policing and intervention because of their financial
and military power to gain interests in commercial and natural resource
generation. The intervention started from the Roosevelt corollary in the Monroe
Doctrine. The United States also led humanitarian missions in Somalia and
Lebanon to save the people from the dictatorship and illegal trafficking.

Three International Events from the past five years that can be traced
back to a foreign policy created after the Civil War

The Iraq war an
armed conflict that occurred in two phases. In the first phase, United States
invasion force attacked it on 20th March 2003. Following this, a
long phase of insurgency emerged to oppose the invasion forces that resulted in
the formation of new government in Iraq. The war was completed in December 2011
thought the insurgency is ongoing and still continues to take thousands of
casualties (Larson, 2008)

In 2006, US
financed the external opposition to Syria’s ruling Baath party. These exiles
were members of the Muslim community who were earlier evicted from the country
because of their uprising against the state. In 2007, a plan for regime change
was agreed upon in between the three states namely United States, Israel and
Saudi Arabia. Their aim was to devastate the resistance alliance of Hizbullah,
Syria and Iran

Russia has accused
US for bringing political upheaval in Ukraine. The government in US announced
$1 billion energy subsidy that includes training for financial institutions and
anti-corruption efforts (Schoen, 2014).

Three Aspects of U.S. history since 1865 that has led to the U.S.’s
rise as a world super power police

·
US rose as the world’s largest economy after
1865. It had 50% of the world production at the end of World War II. The
economic stability helps increase their control over their internal resources
and also spend in various activities outside their territories.

·
It reacted to the 19th century
revival of European imperialism by extending its opposition to imperialism in
Western Hemisphere, China on Open Door Note, Europe in Wilson’s 14 points, and
South Asia and Africa through Atlantic Charter. The strength of the allies and
a permanent seat in the UN makes it a strong power. The strength of the governance and treaties which gave them power
to intervene in internal policies of various nations (Zinn, 2005)

·
Europe and Russia’s mutual destruction in the Cold
War, the division of Cold war and the stagnation of states under communism. Th.
defense and military intelligence has been the best in the world with huge
military spending and usage of ultra-modern surveillance equipment

Five ways international incidents since World War II where American has
taken on a policing role

·
The Panama Canal treaty in 1978 where Americans
gained control of the canal and the business interests as they said they have
developed and built it.

·
Bending troops to Libya for pacifying the public
and also overthrown the government.

·
In 1990s the US had sent their troops to Somalia
to establish peace and interfered with their domestic policy making mechanism
(Zinn, 2005).

·
After World War II, the US had intervened in the
Korean conflict in the year 1946.

·
US in the year 1958 intervened with their
military forces in Lebanon.

Five driving forces that fueled international policy decisions
involving the international incidents you outlined previously (consider
treaties, exit strategies, elections, wars, etc.)

·
The Panama canal treaty was done to gain
commercial interests and to protect the trading companies in the US (Zinn,
2005)

·
To gain control of Libya and also to increase
their power on the natural resources of Libya

·
The Somalian government became a dictatorship
and the US intervention was to improve the civilian life and decrease tensions
and illegal drug trades.

·
The Korean conflict was to fight off Russia from
the Korean lands and to gain their control on the South Korean lands and to
free North Korea from Russian military.

·
US interfered in Lebanon to lower the political
and also the religious tensions in the country.
