-The idea that memories are formed in our minds by associations of individual elements – associationism – has been with us for a long time, at least since Aristotle. Please briefly cover all the following points:
1) Outline the major milestones in the history and development of this concept(i.e. the thinkers involved and their specific proposals.)
2)explain the importance of this in the context of Hebb’s Principle : “neurone that fire together, wire together,” as a simple but powerful potential neural mechanism which could account for associative learning.
3)Discuss any modern experimental evidence that Hebb (Aristotle) were right.
