Hi I have to write a 6 page paper on the history of HIV. Below is some of the issue the paper should include or touch upon
-How poverty/social class affects a person contracting the disease
-How your race/religion affects a person contracting the disease
-The basic info on HIV what it is, prevention/treatment, stages, symptoms
-Stats on how many people have HIV in America/globally
-Peers/medical professional’s attitudes towards individuals with HIV
-Social Stigma
-Advancement of medication over the years
-Compare/contrast past (When the disease first broke out) versus current day HIV
Research Project (20%) and Presentation (10%) For this
assignment you will have to select a specific disease or medical
procedure (e.g. sterilization, female genital cutting) and write a sixpage long critical report on it paying closer attention to how different
axis of inequality, such as gender, race/ethnicity, class, nationality,
religion, have played a part in influencing its development. The paper
will serve as the basis for a presentation on the topic that you will
share with the rest of the classroom in the last two weeks of classes.
You can choose to do your project with one or two other individuals
knowing that you assume full responsibility for whatever happens and
that all individuals will receive the same grade. More information on
the presentation will be provided later on in the semester.
