When trial consultants become involved in high-profile cases, simple things like a juror questionnaire (filled out by prospective jurors who may be impaneled for the actual trial) can become a mammoth task. The O.J. Simpson questionnaire was 302 multiple-part questions covering everything from demographics to attitude statements to preferred television programs.

You can find the questionnaire on the following website: http://www.vortex.com/privacy/simpson-jq. Read through it and give your thoughts about the questions posed. Are they too prying? Not prying enough? Do some seem to be unrelated to attitudes of jurors regarding guilt? What surprised you? Do you think that this process is effective in identifying biased jurors?

How to answer

  • You must state and support your opinions using information from lectures and chapter readings. More points are awarded for the more things you incorporate from lectures and the textbook and more points are awarded for originality
  • You are giving a personal opinion – there are no right or wrong answers
  • Remember to exercise respect – a disrespectful posting or response to another student’s posting can earn you a zero for the week
  • Grammar and sentence structure are important and part of the grade
